Take six copies of Ninth House， throw them in a blender， and from the distilled and concentrated remainders you get Hell Bent。 If you enjoyed Ninth House， you’ll like this one even more。 If， like me， you found it to be exhausting and poorly paced with an internal logic that just didn’t quite gel （I’m sorry， WHEN exactly is Alex supposed to be doing her Ivy-league level coursework？） then…。 yeah， prepare for more of the same。 I felt Hell Bent did have a little more emotional heft， probably because Take six copies of Ninth House， throw them in a blender， and from the distilled and concentrated remainders you get Hell Bent。 If you enjoyed Ninth House， you’ll like this one even more。 If， like me， you found it to be exhausting and poorly paced with an internal logic that just didn’t quite gel （I’m sorry， WHEN exactly is Alex supposed to be doing her Ivy-league level coursework？） then…。 yeah， prepare for more of the same。 I felt Hell Bent did have a little more emotional heft， probably because we know the characters a bit more， and there were a few parts that I found genuinely compelling。 Otherwise， this was not a favorite read of mine。 。。。more
